Proposed CMS healthcare cuts

I am the director of rehab at a nursing facility in Brownwood Texas, we provide Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapie. We currently in the middle of a covid outbreak.    The proposed cuts to medicare would really hurt my patients and profession.    I have seen several patients pass away recently.  The patients that did the worst were the patients who sat in bed, and were not eatign and drinking like they should.   The ones who did the best were the patients who received therapy and worked with us.   Without therapy people are at increased risk for pneumonia, muscle weakness, and falls.    We prevent falls which could lead to more costly medical procedures, and we speed up recovery time and get patients to the next level of care when possible.    Not sure if you are aware but we provide 2-3 weeks of therapy for less than the average cost of a MRI or CT scan. the difference in that makes life so much easier for a lot of people.   The proposed 9% cut means less funding for supplies, staff, and time allowed in facilities.     We simply can't afford a cut at this time when everything is getting more expensive.    A lot of times it really feels like politicians do not listen to the constituents.  I feel blessed to have voted for you.    I have never really felt that way once I moved to Texas from NY.    I urge you to please to the extent of your control to oppose these cuts.   I am sure we could have a lot of money elsewhere. (bailing out failing NBA and NFL for example)

Our Current patients range from 22 years old to above 90 years old.  They are all in a horrible situation this year, more so than other years due to social isolation, and seeing their  friend and roommates pass away.

Please know that I support you, and generally with majority of your decisions.     We have had a very bad year.  Healthcare workers are tired, stressed and worn down emotionally.  Please help.

Thank you.
