The Reconciliation Monument
PLEASE stop the destruction of the Reconciliation Monument IMMEDIATELY! This is ANOTHER instance of the current leadership in our country doing everything they can to SEPARATE our citizens instead of bringing us together. This is an absolutely disgusting waste of time and money! Tell the pentagon that they should be taking care of their own problems, such as correcting the terrible mistakes they've made over the last 3 years, and to stop sticking their noses where they DO NOT BELONG!
The Civil War was the single most devastating war our nation ever fought. We cannot erase the past and must not forget its lessons. I believe we should educate our children about our hard-fought freedoms, including the Thirteenth, Fourteenth, and Fifteenth Amendments, which abolished slavery, guaranteed equal protections under the law, and prohibited racial discrimination at the voting booth.
As American citizens, we enjoy extraordinary freedoms, making this the greatest country in the world. We can learn much from our nation’s history, both good and bad. I support the fundamental right of all Americans to peacefully protest and make their voices heard. However, we must strongly oppose any hateful action that terrorizes a specific group or our society as a whole.
I introduced bipartisan legislation, the FASTER Act, to step up our federal government’s response to domestic terrorists and homegrown radical extremists who threaten our communities. As your Representative, I will continue to fight for understanding to help our great nation prosper and will be sure to keep your thoughts in mind.
