My name is Danielle and I am a constituent and voter in your District, reaching out regarding my concern and disdain for the United States support of the Israeli attack on the Palestinian people of Gaza.
I would like to let you know that if you support the bolstering of Israel’s ability to commit genocide against the Palestinian people, financially, materially, and militarily, I will spend the next election cycle volunteering and fundraising for their opponent in the primary.
The Palestinian people have experienced displacement and violence at the hands of the Israeli State and settlement for 75 years. Continuously uprooted from their homes and forced into smaller and smaller territory, the Palestinian people now live in an area the size and density of Manhattan. Israel not only controls ingress and egress of Palestinian people through their own border with Gaza, but through western support, also influences the border through Egypt. The Israeli government controls the water, food, medicine, humanitarian aid, building materials, and more that is able to be imported into Gaza.
It is immoral that a state as powerful as Israel, backed by the insurmountable influence of the United States, is using recent events in the region as a justification to conduct an ethnic cleansing of a city whose population is nearly half children. These children are being bombed indiscriminately by one of the largest powers in the Middle East, and my country is supporting it. My tax dollars are paying for it.
Death on all sides of a conflict, particularly of civilians, is horrible. But we reached a point long ago where the scales of power were so imbalanced that it is impossible to compare. At what point in history has a country controlled all of the resources of the people it is fighting? In what world is that war and not annihilation? I urge you to be openly and vocally opposed to any financial, material, military, or other support of the Israeli attempt to commit genocide.
