SB268, “Prohibits the Indiana public retirement system from investing in certain restricted entities or restricted investment products, including particular investments publically confirmed to be controlled by the People's Republic of China or the Chinese Communist Party. Specifies exceptions, a divestment schedule, and reporting requirements.”
SB268 is a good start and needs your support. But, in my opinion, SB268 does not go far enough. Ben, you and I have discussed my concerns that some 80% of solar panels produced contain Uyghur Chinese Slave Labor content. Should I still be looking for you to speak out against the prospect of tens of millions of dollars of solar panels being installed in Indiana farm fields that contain large Chinese slave labor content? Why should Indiana county governments have the authority to install or to grant tax abatements on personal property with origins in the slave camps of China?
Tyler, this country and this state have accepted immoral and unethical business practices by the Chinese Communist Party for years. I hope you stand alongside your Indiana Senate Republican colleagues against the ongoing criminality of CCP business practices. Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has spoken eloquently against Chinese solar panel slave labor content. Yet many local politicians in Dekalb and other Indiana counties continue to chase federal solar tax dollar pass-thru benefits in spite of the potential slave labor content of solar panels. An end needs to be put to this spectacle.
Please support your Republican colleagues by improving SB268 to prevent solar panels with Chinese Slave Labor content.
