I have many family and friends that share a common interest with me: good beer. The kind you don't just pick up a 24-pack and drink at home. The kind you make an event to go out and enjoy. Yet everyone I take out to my local breweries (especially the out of state visitors) laugh when I tell them the archaic policies put in place by the state ABC.
Starting with the anti-competitive restrictions on breweries serving food: These are completely illogical from a safety standpoint. It's a proven fact that drinking without consuming food can lead to increased effects of alcohol entering the bloodstream. It's unsafe to restrict the sale of food. While it does allow patrons to order from nearby restaurants, many end up leaving the brewery intoxicated to avoid delivery fees and wait times. Allowing the breweries to work with nearby restaurants and food trucks to serve food on premises will help keep the communities safe and support both businesses.
Second (and more importantly), I want to address the events policies. For the past 8 years, I've been a trivia host at bars and restaurants. At the start of the pandemic, I started helping my local brewery by hosting trivia there, but they could only bring me in at best twice a month because of the restrictions. They had to save events from their quota for live music on the weekends, charity events, and so on. Meanwhile, the restaurant around the corner can host trivia one night, karaoke the next, parties and live music on the weekend and repeat the whole schedule on a weekly basis all while exercising their liquor license. 
This policy is argued to be in place to help restaurants, but they don't need the help. It's the suffocating breweries that need the help. Their products are the ones getting recognized and drawing in tourism to our state. Their operating under such close watch, but also under outrageous restrictions compared to other food and beverage sellers. 
Level the playing field. Roll back the restrictions! Thank you!
