“These Kids”  (cont’d)

Sometimes, they are as unique as snowflakes

but yet we measure what they lack.

Sometimes, they missed it

because we made them stay in the back.

Sometimes, they come with very little in the sack.

Now, we question how they are stacked.

While, they have crawled from many cracks,

We still miss the chance to change the packs,

But only for the brown or blacks.

These kids live with shame,

While we fight to access blame,

No need to take aim, it’s not a game,

Their only claim to fame,

Will rest with what you can help them gain.

None are yours by name,

But you signed up to claim,

So, let’s do what it is we came,

Help them change…

If not now, then we all live in vain.
