This is a cry for help to the people that have the power over this country and ultimately over the lives of its citizens. I am a well-educated, full-time nursing student. I have dedicated my life to helping people in every way I can within my power. I have countless opportunities to make a difference and better the lives of my future patients. Despite this, I feel hopeless. Our planet, our world is dying. Instead of the government taking immediate action, scientific facts are being debated as if they are opinions. I am tiered of both democratic and republican parties bickering like children. The state of our planet is not up for debate, action needs to be taken now. My future is in the hands of politicians, and that is very unsettling. Our lives are in danger, and I want both parties of the government to take it seriously. Money, fame, power, etc. does not matter if there is no planet because we will all be dead. Humans will be extinct, and we will be taking the rest of life on earth down with us. Our ignorance, lack of education, poor morals, and greed will be the end of us. We need to get the priorities straight.
