Vaccine mandate
Dear Ross, Thank you for contacting me to share your concerns regarding President Biden's vaccine mandate. It is good to hear from you regarding this important issue. On September 9, 2021, President Biden took executive action that will orders the Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to develop a rule that will require all employers with 100 or more employees to require their workforce to be fully vaccinated. Employees that are not vaccinated will be required to produce a negative test result on at least a weekly basis before coming to work. The President's executive orders also require all executive branch employees and contractors to be fully vaccinated. I am a fervent supporter of our constitutional rights. I do not support vaccine or mask mandates. To ensure individual freedoms are not lost, I introduced H.R. 4884, the Employee Rights and Freedoms Act. This bill would ban any employers from mandating an employee undertake any medical procedure, including the COVID-19 vaccine. Additionally, H.R. 4884 would allow an employee to bring a civil action in an appropriate Federal district court if medical procedures are required. This bill is about individual rights. I support individual freedoms, and I certainly stand against oppression. Neither government nor private employers have the right to mandate medical procedures. H.R. 4884 has been referred to the House Committee on Education and Labor for further review. While I do not serve as a member of this committee, please be assured that I will keep your comments in mind should I have the opportunity to further address this legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives. Again, I appreciate your thoughts and it is an honor to serve you in Congress. Your suggestions are always welcome, and if ever I may be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me at https://clayhiggins.house.gov/. Sincerely,Clay Higgins Member of Congress

I am against being forced to get a vaccine for covid or delta or whatever strain is out there. I feel the government should not be forcing people to take something into their bodies that they don't want. I feel it's a government overreach. Also I feel companies should not be forcing employees to get the vaccine. What is being done on this issue?

Mr. Welsh,
Thank you for contacting me with your thoughts about H.R. 5378, the Lower Costs, More Transparency Act. It is good to hear from you on this important issue.
Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers introduced H.R. 5378 on September 8, 2023. The bill offers several reforms aimed at increasing cost transparency in the health care system. Among other changes, the bill would require pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) to follow specific reporting standards.
I support efforts to improve access to quality health care and increase choice and competition among providers. While I agreed with some provisions in the bill, the cost to taxpayers, rushed process, and increased government intervention in the health care marketplace led me to vote no on the House floor. However, H.R. 5378 passed the U.S. House of Representatives by a 320 to 71 margin on December 11, 2023. Please be assured that I will keep your comments in mind should I have an opportunity to further address this legislation.
Again, I appreciate your thoughts, and it is an honor to serve you in Congress. Your suggestions are always welcome, and if ever I may be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me at https://clayhiggins.house.gov/.
Respectfully,
Clay Higgins
