Urgent Help Needed

Good Afternoon Colleen,
Thank you for contacting our office about your unemployment difficulties. If you can provide us with your address, phone number, claim status (pending/filed), weekly benefit rate, and the last four digits of your social security number, we can send your information to our liaison at the Department of Labor who can have an agent look into your claim.
In regards to your concerns about the $600 payments, you will receive retroactive payments of your benefits and the $600 payments going back to the date of claim. As of right now, the $600 benefits will be exhausted on July 31st but if there is an extension of the CARES Act, we will keep you informed.
Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any additional questions or concerns. Stay safe!!

Dear Assemblyman Frieman;
My name is Colleen Murray-Seig and I am a State Licensed Massage Therapist. I own and operate my own massage studio as well as work part time for Rutgers University’s “Wellness on the go” program in New Brunswick.
In March when the Covid -19 epidemic hit I complied with all State Regulations and closed down. On April 14th, after realizing I was going to be closed substantially longer than anticipated, I filed for unemployment. Since I was considered a “gig worker” even though I filed taxes through my Rutgers work I figured it might take longer for me to receive my benefits. As of the writing of this, I have yet to receive any money. It says that everything is ok but I haven’t gotten a dime, even though my son who filed 3 weeks after me is getting his benefits. My claimant ID# is 004260441.
I tried to get several of the government grants, but I have been denied any funding I have tried for.
I know the $600.00 is going to stop soon and I will have missed the opportunity for me to keep my business open. I am 3 months behind in rent and will not be able to reopen soon if I don’t get some cash inflow.
When I try calling unemployment no one answers, when I email, I get a computer generated response that has no bearing on my question, and all offices are closed so I can’t talk to a person. I have tried to call several of my state government’s offices only to find all the mailboxes are full. What am I to do?
I have never filed for unemployment before. I have held a job, even if only part time since I was 16. I have never asked for a hand out, I just want what I was promised so that I can continue to help people. Please help me. I can be reached at 732-297-9189 (house) or (732) 896-5654 (cell/business).
Thank you for your help in this matter.
Sincerely,
Colleen Murray-Seig, LMT
