Dear Pete,

I am so upset with you right now and find it totally unbelievable what I read and that you would even entertain the thought of separating my Marine grandson, or any Marine or anyone serving in the Airforce, Army, or Navy from their service to our country or fighting for the freedoms of the citizens of this United States of America because of some facial hair that prevents their suffering from the chronic condition of Pseudofolliculitis barbae (PFB).

My grandson has a medical exemption from shaving because of PFB and he periodically has to go through the prescribed regimen of treatment, having to shave off his facial hair to see what happens. Yep, again and again, the PFB comes back with a vengeance, and the doc writes him another exemption that allows him to stop shaving and let his facial hair grow back in and keeping in trimmed until next time he is ordered to shave and repeat.

But Petey your prescribed treatment for our Soldiers/Sailers/Marines who have PFB would be to separate them from their branch of service?

This is an outlandish and ridiculous idea, to penalize our beloved servicemen for something so petty.  What, in your own words, is the harm in letting a growth of cm facial hair going to hurt anyone or anything? This is a tried-and-true method to prevent PFB, simple as that.

My grandson is an excellent specimen of a Marine, he is Proud to be a Marine, he works hard, trains hard, and teaches other hard. He is a MARINE.  There are hundreds of others in service to our country also affected with PFB and that are also excellent specimens of their branch. UNBELIEVABLE.

This is going too far, too far indeed. There are so many other more detrimental infractions to be separated from serving our nation than this.

Please, clearly explain the logic behind your determination of this nonsense.
