Military Pay Lost

In 1970, I married an active duty Air Force sergerent We were married for 24 years when he had an affair and walked out on me and our 17 year old son. We divorced and a court order gave me half of his retirement pay with survivor benefits. In March of 2023, after receiving these benefits for 30 years, my ex-husband was approved for a disability which allowed him to take half of my court ordered retirement benefits.
I have talked to many people in the Government pay practices and not one ever heard of this happening. I hired 2 attorneys and that said my ex-husband could not break a court order and take this money from me.. First attorney was pro bono and she did nothing to help me. 2nd attorney took a $3500 fee from me and about 7 months later still did nothing to get my court order to a judge to resolve it.
Last week, I was informed that all my retirement pay benefit was stopping and that my ex-husband would get all the money. He has complete medical care with the Military for his disability. I have TMJ which is not covered by any insurance and I have not had any medical treatment in 2 years because my retirement pay has been reduced. I am writing you this letter and asking that you look into this policy with the Military. Dependent spouses give to for this country and deserve to keep our court ordered benefits.
There are thousands of dependent spouses who believe these benefits will not disappear, I am now 76 years old and can not survive off of just my social security. I sincerely appreciate anything you can do to help me get my benefits back or at least explain to me how this could be fair and why it has happened.
Sincerely,
Patty Hendrick
