Urgent: Safeguarding Our Workforce and Economy in the Age of AI

Dear Mr. McClendon,

Thank you for contacting me regarding your support for policies that protect Georgia's workers.

I believe that the freedom to choose to join, or not join, a union is a decision that workers should be able to make without fear of coercion or reprisal. Unions represent democracy in the workplace and are responsible for so many landmark steps in our nation's history. From eliminating child labor, to putting in safety and health protections, to fighting for pay equity, the work unions have done has improved the lives of all Americans. I am proud to be an original cosponsor of S. 852, the Richard L. Trumka Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act of 2025. This bill safeguards the rights of employees to organize and takes steps to prevent retaliation against workers who exercise this fundamental right.

As your U.S. Senator, I am committed to bringing jobs to Georgia and making investments into Georgia’s workers. I am also a strong supporter of workforce development federal programs under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). This landmark legislation helps to strengthen the relationship between employers and job seekers by giving them the education, training, and support necessary to contribute to the economy. That is why, on June 18, 2024, I introduced the Pathways to Prosperity Act in the 118th Congress, which would provide grants to community and technical colleges to support partnerships between colleges and employers to align workforce development programs with local industry workforce needs. The Pathways to Prosperity Act would also broaden the quality of career training initiatives at community colleges, enhance opportunities for individuals to attain stackable postsecondary credentials that translate to in-demand industry jobs, and assist individuals with barriers to employment when accessing workforce programs.

Like you, I am a strong supporter of paid family and medical leave because no one should have to choose between caring for their loved ones and earning a living. Since being elected to the Senate, I have consistently supported legislation supporting paid leave policies. That is why, last Congress, I was proud to cosponsor the Family and Medical Insurance Leave (FAMILY) Act, which would create a permanent benefit program providing up to 12-weeks of paid family and medical leave benefits to workers. I will work tirelessly with my colleagues to advance this priority in any possible legislative vehicle, and I remain hopeful that any new economic investment package will include this critical support for working families.

I also believe that every worker should earn a livable wage. That is why I have consistently supported proposals to increase the national minimum wage to $17 an hour and why I am proud to be an original cosponsor of S. 1332, the Raise the Wage Act, which would gradually raise the federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $17 and index future increases to median wage growth to ensure the value of minimum wage does not once again erode over time. This wage increase would help to lift millions of workers and families across Georgia and the country out of poverty and strengthen our middle class.

Should opportunities to support Georgia's workers come to the Senate floor for a vote, please know that I will keep your thoughts in mind. In the meantime, I am committed to working with my colleagues in the Senate to protect the dignity of work and empower working families across Georgia.

Thank you again for contacting me. Please do not hesitate to do so again in the future if I may be of assistance to you or your family.

 Sincerely,

Reverend Raphael Warnock
United States Senator

Hello and thank you for your time.

I’m writing as a concerned citizen, a parent, and a professional in the tech industry who is witnessing firsthand the rapid acceleration of artificial intelligence. While I believe AI holds incredible potential for solving complex problems and improving lives, I’m deeply concerned about the lack of coordinated oversight regarding its impact on the American workforce.

Millions of jobs — from administrative roles to creative and service-based work — are now vulnerable to automation. We are on the verge of a shift that could rival the industrial revolution, but seemingly without a clear public strategy to monitor and mitigate its economic and social consequences.

I urge you to take proactive leadership in this moment by advocating for or establishing a task force to:

 • Monitor the job market impacts of AI adoption across industries

 • Recommend safeguards and retraining pathways for affected workers

 • Develop strategies to sustain economic stability and family well-being in a time of accelerated change

We need thoughtful, compassionate planning — not reactive policies after harm has already been done. Without action, we risk mass unemployment, increased inequality, and deep damage to the middle class. With foresight, we can harness AI for good while protecting the people it threatens to displace.

Please don’t wait for crisis to lead. I’m asking you — as a constituent and a parent — to help ensure a future where innovation and human dignity go hand in hand.

Sincerely,

Daniel McClendon
