Home Issues Legislation Services Neighbor,
I am excited to announce a unique opportunity for residents of the 9th Congressional District to give input on critical issues in our communities such as public safety, mental health, and behavioral health.
![]()
My office is teaming up with Civic Genius, a program of the National Civic League, to host a new kind of town hall – one designed to bring more voices to the table for a thoughtful and productive conversation.
Ours will be the very first congressional district in the country to use this innovative town hall format developed by the National Civic League.
![]()
How it works
My goal is to have a real conversation about what people in our district are experiencing, what is most important to you, and how I can best represent you in Congress.
- Residents will discuss the issue in small groups and give feedback on different policy ideas – both with each other and with me. This format will allow us to engage in deeper dialogue than at a traditional town hall.
- To ensure that constituents from all corners of our district have a voice in the discussion, we will select participants by lottery and create a panel of residents that reflects our district’s demographics. Every resident of the 9th Congressional District is eligible to register.
Visit the FAQ to learn more here.
How to Participate
Register for the lottery HERE by July 18 at 5pm. If you are randomly selected to participate, we will notify you on July 22.Even if you are not selected in the lottery, you can give your input HERE.
Event Details
Date: Tuesday, August 5
Time: 5:30 – 7:30 pm
Location: Coming soon!
Please reach out to my office at 425-793-5180 if you need assistance or have any questions.
I will continue to host traditional town halls and tele-town halls, and welcome all constituents to these events. As always, you can contact my office any time.
I hope you to register for the lottery and to share this with others in our district. Thank you for taking the time to read this message.
Sincerely,

Home Issues Legislation Services Neighbor,
Just moments ago, I introduced a War Powers Resolution, with my colleagues Reps. Meeks and Himes, to order the removal of U.S. Armed Forces from hostilities against Iran absent a Congressional authorization, while preserving the ability for U.S. Armed Forces to defend the U.S. and its partners and allies from imminent attack.

On, June 23, 2025, Reps. Adam Smith, Gregory Meeks, and Jim Himes introduced a War Powers Resolution in response to Trump's unauthorized strikes on Iran this past weekend.
Congressman Gregory Meeks, the Ranking Member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, and Congressman Jim Himes, the Ranking Member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence joined me in introducing this crucial War Powers Resolution. Here's a copy of our joint statement:
"President Trump must not be allowed to start a war with Iran, or any country, without Congressional approval. Yet President Trump ordered strikes on Iran this past weekend without meaningful consultation or Congressional authorization.
"We still don’t know whether these strikes eliminated Iran’s nuclear weapons capabilities, and the administration has offered no clear strategy. Instead, the President has posted on social media about regime change, undermining any claim that this was a narrowly tailored operation to eliminate a nuclear threat. Without a coherent strategy for preventing Iran’s program from bouncing back, including through diplomacy, we risk further escalation. No thoughtful deliberation nor careful planning occurred here — and serious actions demand serious debate, not presidential impulse.
"The War Powers Resolution we’ve introduced today orders the removal of U.S. Armed Forces from hostilities against Iran, while allowing U.S. forces to carry out defensive operations to defend the United States and its partners and allies from imminent attack, including those defending Israel. Again, President Trump must not be allowed to start a war with Iran without Congressional approval."

Home Issues Legislation Services Neighbor,
This past week, I've been busy meeting with folks across our district to learn how we can improve our communities. Here are some of the roundtables I attended over the past few days.
Behavioral Health
![]()
I joined local providers from the Ninth District in Bellevue on Monday to discuss cuts to federal support for behavioral health and how they will impact the district's ability to provide care. Representatives from Sayin', Thira Health, Valley Cities, SOUND Behavioral Health, and Rogers Behavioral Health also spoke about the current capacity of the behavioral health system in King County, and how to expand access to care.
Labor Roundtable
![]()
Later on Monday I hosted a Labor Roundtable in Des Moines. I was very thankful for many of our local union leaders for joining us to tell their personal stories about labor protections and the state of union work during the Trump administration's funding freezes. I've done a lot of work in Congress to help union members, and I look forward to sharing this with my colleagues in D.C.
Maternal Health Roundtable
On Tuesday afternoon, Congresswoman Kim Schrier (WA-08) and I heard from local health care providers in Auburn about how the Trump Administration's proposed cuts to Medicaid can lead to reduced access to maternal health care in Washington. With many hospitals and clinics at risk of closing their doors, I remain committed to supporting women's health. I greatly appreciated this conversation.
Housing Authority Roundtable
Finally, I welcomed members of public housing authorities to a roundtable at my district office on Wednesday afternoon. To me, affordable housing is a top priority, so this conversation about federal cuts, voucher allocation, and public safety in relation to housing was very important. I've introduced several pieces of legislation to make housing more affordable, so I thank our attendees from across King County who participated in this talk.
Thank you for taking the time to read this update. If you have any questions or comments, please contact my office.
Sincerely,

Ms. Cantwell, Ms. Murray, and Mr. Smith,
Please do all you can to block the involvement of United States Forces in the conflict between Israel and Iran.
The US should not help Israel in its unprovoked war with Iran.
I believe Israel has committed genocide in Palestine and wants to expand that conflict throughout the Middle East.
The US should not be sucked in to anther conflict in the Middle East.
Again.. Please do all you can to keep us from spending American lives and treasure in another Middle East conflict.
Thank you,
Robert L. Hillebrand
