Dear President Trump, VP Vance, and Kentucky Congressmen,

I am writing as a concerned citizen to express my profound disquiet regarding recent reductions in US foreign aid.

These cuts undermine humanitarian principles and weaken our foreign policy. They risk causing suffering, destabilizing vulnerable regions, and diminishing America’s global standing. Foreign aid is a vital tool for both ethical reasons and for promoting long-term global stability, ultimately serving our own interests.

For the Commonwealth of Kentucky, these policies also carry implications. Our engagement in the global community, through educational institutions and various organizations, is often supported and enhanced by international development efforts. A less stable and more impoverished global landscape can also indirectly affect our local economy and opportunities for engagement.

In conclusion, while I understand the complexities of fiscal policy, I am convinced that a strong commitment to carefully considered foreign aid is both a moral imperative and a pragmatic element of effective governance. I respectfully urge you to reconsider these cuts and restore funding to these crucial programs.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
