Hi, my name is Ben Pearl, and I am a father here in Sacramento, CA, raising my boys to be men of strong character. To respect the Constitution, think for themselves, and do what is right even when it is not easy.
I am calling because I support the SHUSH Act and the SHORT Act. These bills would remove suppressors and short barreled rifles from the outdated NFA, and that matters to me. Suppressors help protect hearing. Barrel length should not be what turns a moral citizen into a criminal.
My own mother is four foot ten. She has no business trying to use a full length rifle that clearly does not fit her. A smaller rifle would actually match her frame and allow her to defend herself if someone broke into her home. She also deserves to protect her hearing, both at home and when she trains at the range.
It is the same principle as a driver adjusting the seat in a car. The seat moves forward or backward. The mirrors get adjusted. The seatbelt fits across the shoulder. You set everything up to match the person in the seat. Rifles work the same way. You fit the stock and barrel length to the shooter so they can actually use the tool safely and effectively.
I want my sons to grow up in a country that honors common sense and the rights we were given by our Creator, not one buried in red tape. I hope you will do the right thing and support these bills.
