Thank you for representing me at the federal level. However, I would like to ask that if at all possible you do everything you can to continue the actions of USAID abroad. My religious and moral beliefs hold that those who are given much should do much to help others. In the US we are blessed to have a country full of opportunity and the ability to support yourself, but that is not the case in many places all over the world. I believe USAID does vital work caring for those who have nobody to help, providing food, critical medical care and education to those who need it most. When it is programs like this that the government is cutting, I look around and think how can we call ourselves a nation of Christians if we are so eager to save a little money or reduce waste that we put the lives of those reliant on USAID programs at risk. Please, please if there is anything you can do to continue or expand these programs I, and more importantly the millions of lives they impact would be forever grateful.
Best,
Stephen Lumsdaine

Dear Stephen,
Thank you for contacting me regarding USAID funding. I appreciate you taking the time to share your views with me.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), created in 1961, is responsible for promoting international development, national security, and economic stability to our global partners. Over the years, USAID has faced serious concerns regarding mismanagement, inefficiency, and a failure to put America’s interests first. USAID has operated with insufficient oversight, duplicating efforts with other programs and, under the Biden administration, even funding controversial initiatives abroad ranging from abortion to radical gender ideologies and climate policies that do not align with our country's strategic goals.
By reassessing these programs, we can ensure that every dollar spent helps the American people, eliminates waste, and promotes policies that serve our country’s best interests. That is why I strongly support President Trump’s decision to freeze foreign aid for 90 days and take a hard look at how these taxpayer dollars are being used.
I will continue to work with President Trump and my colleagues in Congress to ensure that our country’s foreign aid programs advance American interests.
Again, thank you for taking the time to contact me. If you would like regular updates on my work for Tennessee, please sign up for my weekly newsletter or follow me on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
