My husband is a Vietnam veteran. He has a rare blood cancer, multiple myeloma, had radiation and chemo infusions. He's been hospitalized multiple times for various things. He's lost all his toes due to chemo-induced peripheral neuropathy. While the VA covers his medical thru care in the community, it is provisional. He has a lesion on his mandible his cancer doctor wants evaluated thru Dr Danielson at Midwest ENT. Dr Danielson comes to Huron, where we live, but because of some stupid bureaucratic BS, Optum, the VA's insurance provider, will not allow Dr Danielson to see my husband in Huron! My husband's condition has deteriorated over the past few years, a 2 hour trip there and back to Sioux falls is nearly impossible for him! He was recently in the hospital with e-coli in his lungs. He has not regained his previous dubious health condition. I find it utterly ridiculous that because of a bunch of stupid bureaucratic BS, he will be denied care close to home! Please do something about this! It is horribly criminal how our veterans are cared for in this country!
