As a constituent and a pilot for American Airlines, I respectfully request that you and your Senate colleagues promptly approve the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024.
Timely approval of this legislation is in the best interests of our airline industry and the traveling public. Enacting the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024 into law will help ensure our nation’s airlines can continue meeting unprecedented travel demand while upholding the highest standards of safety.
In addition, I request that Congress add language that would raise the mandatory retirement age for pilots from 65 to 67. Data does not support maintaining mandatory retirement at age 65 and should be changed.
A pilot on Monday who is fully qualified to do the job, should not be unqualified on Tuesday merely by virtue of a birthday. I respectfully urge Congress to add language that increases the mandatory retirement age to 67.
Thank you for considering my views on this important legislation.
