I am the fiancé of a disabled veteran, who served 11 years in the Army National Guard. He was given an honorable discharge due to PTSD and severe migraines. In May of 2022 he suffered a heart attack due to an enlarged heart which developed blood clots. Then exactly a year later, May of 2023 a blood clot traveled to his brain stem and he then suffered a Stroke, I almost lost him and yes I found him unresponsive and no clue what was happening. But I managed to keep it together and got him to the hospital. He almost died, I almost lost a piece of my heart that day. You see I would die for this man if it meant he would live. He saved my life and the least I could do is save his. The blood clot was removed successfully but that wasn't even the hard part. He had to learn to walk again, talk again, and then remember my name. Everyday I hide the tears that fall off my face secretly because I don't want his spirit to be let down, and it's the hardest thing I've ever had to lie about.
During all his therapies' I had to learn everything he was doing, such as, paying bills and dealing with everything he was, there was just one problem, he couldn't remember anything. I had to search and search and call and call every single company and person i could to figure stuff out. Then our mortgage company decided to hit us with a threat to foreclose on our home, oh yeah did i mention we are only 40 and 41 years of age in our very first home, so all year we've been fighting them , even the VA is tired of this craziness. We have given them everything they have asked for in order to get a solution. They denied us the first time, then we appealed in which they denied that too. So the VA put a holt until May 31 2024. Today is May 5 2024 and we contacted the servicer and they yelled at my veteran saying we are missing documents that were asked of us and so they denied us again. I have proof we gave them what they asked for a month ago.
